* . Welcome to Marz .

As I sat with my equally lined spiral notebook brain storming possible questions to ask one of the most talented people I have EVER came across, I was surprisingly lost for words. This immaculate piece of art ( Marz Lovejoy ) which came in the form of a human was UNWORDFUL. As I listened to one of her Youtube Videos ( You Got Me ) I witness the passion and hunger in her eyes. Her words had such meaning and feeling, she reminded me of a female version of ( Lupe Fiasco ). Such a Poetic, engaging, way of words she has when she opens her mouth. She was so cute, and smiled alot but had fire if the mood asked for it. At the tender age of 18 ( with tons of room to grow ) this film student/emcee Marz Lovejoy, has some how conquered the Underground Hip Hop world buzz. I was beyond thrilled when I got an email back saying she would love to do an interview with me I knew for sure the first question had to be...

"Always do what YOU want to do. Don’t Let ANYBODY tell you NO!"

VivaOday: So, who is Marz?

Marz Lovejoy: ME! =]

VivaOday: Is Marz a lot different from Marria?

Marz Lovejoy: No, Marz and Marria are one in the same. (BUT, I don’t like when people who don’t know me, call me Marria)

VivaOday: You are very different and I love it do you have a certain motto you live by?

Marz Lovejoy: Always do what YOU want to do. Don’t Let ANYBODY tell you NO!

VivaOday: I saw you got a new tattoo (half sleeve) is there a story behind it?

Marz Lovejoy: I have a lot of “New Tattoos” aha, but in my half sleeve is a phonograph with a flower for the speaker, a ripped human heart, a peacock, and 3 butterfly outlines. (I love music, I’ve been hurt before but I’m always open to love, peacocks are one of my favorite animals and I love butterflies & 3’s my favorite number.)

"I make music from my heart and when things are heart-felt, they can’t be duplicated."

VivaOday: Who inspires you?

Marz Lovejoy: Susanne Marie Lovejoy (My Mama)

VivaOday: Your favorite lyricist & line?

Marz Lovejoy: I can’t choose “ONE favorite” but, I’m a HUGE Lauryn Hill fan & I like when she says, “and after all my logic and theory, I add a muh’fucka so you ig’nant niggas hear me...”

VivaOday: When you hear a beat what goes through your head first?

Marz Lovejoy: How the beat makes me feel, emotionally and what might be a good story to tell.

VivaOday: What was your first freestyle and what was it about?

Marz Lovejoy: I honestly can’t remember, but if I had to jog my memory, I’d guess it was about me being the only girl in the cypher and how I’m an ill MC..aha.

"I think I bring knowledge, style and class to the game, along with a few other thaaangs ;] but this plastic, Barbie movement’s got to end."

VivaOday: If you Google "Marz Lovejoy" a lot of hip hop heads, male and female, are impressed. How do you feel about your buzz?

Marz Lovejoy: I’m happy about it, I just hope it expands. The love so far has been phenomenal, and I appreciate all of my supporters.

VivaOday: What kind of place is your mixtape going to take listeners?

Marz Lovejoy: Hopefully, an indescribable place. I make music from my heart and when things are heart-felt, they can’t be duplicated.

VivaOday: What's one of your favorite songs that you have recorded so far?

Marz Lovejoy: That’s a secret…. =]

VivaOday: I have seen a lot of your youtube videos you make it look easy, is there a certain process or ritual you do before recording or freestyling?

Marz Lovejoy: I like to meditate and get my mind clear…also water is helpful =]

"No, Marz and Marria are one in the same. (BUT, I don’t like when people who don’t know me, call me Marria)"

VivaOday: What do you think about Female Rappers & what do you bring to the Female Rap Game?

Marz Lovejoy: There are all different kinds of rappers, male and female, but, as far as the females I listen to, I think they’re great (ie. Lauryn Hill, Erykah Badu, Jean Grae, Apani B Fly, Lady Bug from Digable Planets, Missy Elliott, Left Eye, Queen Latifah, Lil Kim, Foxy Brown..) I think I bring knowledge, style and class to the game, along with a few other thaaangs ;] but this plastic, Barbie movement’s got to end.

VivaOday: What message do you want individuals to take away from your music?

Marz Lovejoy: I don’t there’s one specific message, but I definitely want people to be more conscious of their actions and start using their brain.

VivaOday: If you could give anybody who is striving for a dream advice what would it be?

Marz Lovejoy: Do what you want to do. Dream HUGE. Hustle hard. & always keep peace and love in your heart.

VivaOday: Anything you want to say to your Fans/Followers?

Marz Lovejoy: THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU FOR THE SUPPORT!
